- ➤ Port Angeles professor Calvin Mills published his new book of short stories, The Caged Man, with UW’s Cornerstone Press mid-December—his work draws on travels in Latin America—and he expects to schedule a local reading at Peninsula College in 2026. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ On Dec. 23, Larry White finished painting a new mural titled The Release on the east side of BarHop as part of a mural initiative downtown. The artwork features an orca jumping from the waves and captures his stress-release process after 38 years in art. Peninsula Daily News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ United Way awarded 11 scholarships from a $3,000 Peninsula Home Fund grant for job training at Peninsula College—recipients from Port Angeles, Sequim, and Port Townsend took courses such as flagging certification and grant writing bootcamp, and follow-up was planned to measure long-term impact.
