BUSINESS NEWS

  • Five business advisors from Clallam and Jefferson counties graduated from a 40-week pilot program by EDC Team Jefferson that strengthens small businesses and aims to boost family-wage jobs; the program will refine its schedule to better serve working professionals in future cohorts.  Peninsula Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Seaview Academy has become a popular online K-12 option, now serving about 375 students and attracting many from outside the district. The program offers flexible scheduling with dedicated mentor-teachers and plans to expand enrollment to around 500 students by year end.  Peninsula Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe announced on Friday that the 100-year-old Railroad Bridge truss at the Dungeness River Nature Center will be rebuilt in steel to preserve its look and boost safety on the Olympic Discovery Trail — more project details will be shared soon.  My Clallam County

HEALTH NEWS

  • Peninsula Home Fund contributed a $10,000 grant through Olympic View Community Foundation + OMC Foundation to support the cancer center’s patient navigator program that helps arrange overnight stays and essential care for patients traveling for radiation treatment. Grant applications will be due mid-February and winners announced in April.  Peninsula Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Port Angeles Youth Basketball Tournament is set this weekend with a record 83 teams competing on eight courts at four venues (Port Angeles High School, Roosevelt Elementary School, Stevens Middle School, and the Vern Burton Community Center Gym), boosting local hotels and restaurants.  My Clallam County
  • Former Roughrider and Peninsula Pirate Millie Long crossed 1,000 collegiate points after scoring 21 in an 86-56 win over Utah State, marking a milestone in her five-year career. Local bowlers swept Sequim 7-0 today and will host a final home match with North Mason on Monday at 1:00 p.m.  My Clallam County
