- ➤ Port Angeles was awarded a $109,000 grant from the state Department of Commerce to integrate salmon recovery into its planning. The city will begin an Urban Forestry Program (which includes hiring a consultant for tree canopy and stream corridor assessments) immediately, with work planned through spring 2027. - ➤ Warm weather and rain have led Hurricane Ridge to record only 28 inches of snow as measured on Feb. 1 plus this shortage has forced the ski club to pause grooming operations and raised concerns about summer water supply. Forecasts predict snow will resume Sunday night with 45 inches expected over the next 15 days. Peninsula Daily News
