  • The Dungeness Crab Festival Board is hosting a public town hall today at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel to discuss festival planning + its impact on local businesses, tourism and community initiatives while inviting feedback from residents and sponsors.  My Clallam County

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Jada Easterly of Utah and her partner Kaeden Warnberg-Lemm found Madison Falls west of Port Angeles during a national park trek; the falls are at the park entrance along Olympic Hot Springs Road (a wheelchair-accessible 500-foot trail).  Peninsula Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clallam Transit board approved major service and route changes for Port Angeles that extend evening service, shift in-town routes to linear patterns, and add pilot routes in Lower Elwha and Deer Park starting March 16. A special subcommittee will draft community advisory guidelines by May 20 + the board marked March 18 as Transit Driver Appreciation Day while honoring maintenance worker Casey Rudd for 25 years of service.  Peninsula Daily News
  • Residents are invited to share input on replacing the aging Laurel Street Stairs at a meeting today at 6 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers + online, while an online survey opens Feb. 23 for further feedback. City staff will use public comments to guide the design recommendation set for March.  My Clallam County

HEALTH NEWS

  • Clallam County beaches are closed for shellfish harvesting because the state Department of Health reported dangerous levels of paralytic shellfish toxin in samples. The closure affects clams, geoduck, oysters, mussels and moon snail along the Strait of Juan de Fuca (from Cape Flattery to the Jefferson County line).  Peninsula Daily News
