ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 13-year-old Sequim boy was hit by a car at 9:00 p.m. Monday on West Spruce Street and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center with a fractured pelvis and skull; he is in stable condition while additional tests continue and police investigate the hit-and-run.  Peninsula Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • On April 2 at about 6:40 a.m., a PAPD officer saw a Port Angeles man driving a pickup truck erratically on Highway 101 and after he sped away an officer used a PIT maneuver near Race Street to stop him before he fled through a public housing project, and the 27-year-old suspect, identified as Kenneth Lee Brown, was taken to Olympic Medical Center and booked on charges including felony eluding police, DUI/Drugs, possession of a stolen vehicle, and theft (with outstanding arrest warrants).  My Clallam County

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Mules returned to Olympic National Park on Tuesday, April 2 after a winter in pasture to mark April MULES Day—staff said the mules help carry supplies to areas vehicles cannot reach. Park officials thanked Washington's National Park Fund for its support—ensuring the animals receive proper care.  My Clallam County

  • Port Angeles resident Mark Hodgson, a US Navy veteran who works with the Washington State Patrol and serves on local boards, announced his candidacy for City Council on April 2 to replace Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin—who is not running for re-election. He said he will focus on public safety, affordable housing and economic development if elected.  My Clallam County
  • Port Angeles City Council approved about $163,600 in lodging tax grants for local events after a 4-1 vote Tuesday night—applications include funding for youth basketball, winter sports, and several local races. Some council members questioned the validity of the LTAC recommendations due to an unfilled committee seat, but the city attorney explained that the meeting met state law requirements.  Peninsula Daily News

  • Olympic Medical Center hired Dr. Calvin Kuo, a family medicine physician who will join the permanent team in August—after his locum tenens contract ends.
