- ➤ Trent Wuest, 26, from Port Angeles was taken to Olympic Medical Center after his 2001 Toyota Echo hit a tree on U.S. Highway 101 near Sequim at 4:16 a.m. Friday due to speeding for conditions while he was driving without a license or proof of insurance — his car was totaled. - ➤ The Sequim Police Department said Friday that they have potentially identified the driver who hit 13-year-old Colton Dufour on March 31 at 9:00 p.m. in the 600 block of W. Spruce Street—an arrest warrant was issued though the suspect remains at large. My Clallam County
- ➤ Authorities arrested a Port Angeles couple on Thursday for the April 8 burglary of a home on the 3000 block of South Mount Angeles Road after a relative’s report and surveillance video led officers to recover stolen musical equipment and coins from a suspect vehicle. My Clallam County

- ➤ The state Senate approved a $7.3 billion capital budget proposal that funds North Olympic Peninsula projects such as the Port Angeles Waterfront Center and multifamily housing pipeline while the House companion bill remains in committee. Local officials said few new revenue sources are expected as the proposal to raise the property tax cap is still under review and the governor has raised concerns over the heavy reliance on taxes. - ➤ State Sen. Mike Chapman told the Senate public records office not to use legislative privilege for his records in response to a Washington Coalition for Open Government request—making him one of only a few legislators in the district to waive the exemption. The decision means more internal discussions on policy will be available to the public. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Contractors will begin building one-lane bypass roads at two fish passage sites on U.S. Highway 101 south of Forks on Monday to replace culverts and improve fish passage. Drivers near milepost 163 between Ruby Beach and Kalaloch and at milepost 189 near Mansfield Road will face alternating traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.—with a reduced speed limit of 25 mph—per WSDOT.
