  • The Port Angeles Garden Club announced donations through its educational grant program to support local initiatives. The club will give $1,500 to the Clallam Conservation District to bus Dry Creek Elementary students to a native planting event at Ediz Hook, $1,500 to the Welfare for Animals Guild for free spay and neuter clinics, $450 to Adam Logan for a high school greenhouse French drain project, $600 to Barb Silva for a Crescent School Garden shade sail and supplies, $700 to Sarah Schaefermeyer for Franklin Elementary gardening materials, and $500 to Raena Young for Jefferson Elementary vegetable lessons using funds from its annual wreath and plant sales.  Peninsula Daily News

  • After six months of silence — a broken 111-year-old gear halted its ring — the bell in the Clallam County Courthouse clock tower now rings again after local craftsmen replaced the part with a custom-made gear from Angeles Machine Works. The tower will shine blue lights on April 19 for an upcoming historic celebration.  My Clallam County
  • Washington's governor Bob Ferguson said he plans to appeal FEMA’s denial of disaster relief funds for the $34 million in damages from November’s bomb cyclone event—home and business owners affected by the storm await further updates. The state must submit its appeal within 30 days as damage estimates are expected to rise.  My Clallam County
