- ➤ The Coast Guard suspended its search for two people aboard a 15-foot pleasure craft that capsized off Neah Bay on April 18th after Makah Tribal Police reported the vessel had not returned on time; a woman's body was later found near Koitlah Point, prompting intensified rescue efforts. - ➤ Melissa Cox, 31, of Port Angeles failed to yield while turning left from the Longhouse onto westbound U.S. Highway 101 at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday and struck an eastbound vehicle, sending her and Colin Baudais, 51, of Aberdeen—whose 2018 Ford F150 ended up in the median—to Olympic Medical Center with drugs and alcohol cited as factors while both vehicles were totaled and towed. - ➤ The North Olympic Library System lost its $3.9 million federal grant that supported digital and braille services after a mid-March notification—NOLS director Noah Glaude said library users in Clallam County may face fewer digital titles and longer waits while the system figures out next steps. - ➤ Clallam Transit received the Safety Stars Award from the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool for the fourth year in a row and celebrated with a $3,500 prize at its April 13 banquet while planning to apply for funding to add electric buses and charging infrastructure. The board approved a committee to recruit an interim general manager after GM Jim Fetzer announced his resignation effective July 31 — and also shifted its monthly meeting time to noon starting May 21.
