- ➤ The Port Angeles Fire Department and Clallam County Fire District 2 extinguished a 30-foot brush fire in a transient encampment that caused the closure of the Tumwater Truck Route in the 800 block around 4:41 p.m. Saturday, and no injuries were reported during mop-up efforts. - ➤ Smoke rose high over Port Angeles on Saturday evening when firefighters were dispatched at about 4:41 p.m. to fight a fire at a homeless encampment along the Tumwater Truck Route near the 8th Street Bridge—propane explosions forced the closure of the route while crews extinguished flames across a 30-by-30-foot area with no reported injuries.
