- ➤ Smoke rose high over Port Angeles on Saturday evening when firefighters were dispatched at about 4:41 p.m. to fight a fire at a homeless encampment along the Tumwater Truck Route near the 8th Street Bridge—propane explosions forced the closure of the route while crews extinguished flames across a 30-by-30-foot area with no reported injuries.
