- ➤ A 52-year-old Clallam County man named Daniel O. Bertelson was sentenced to 26 months in prison for firing a gun during a trailer park fire near Bean Road last July—police said he fired several shots into the air after fireworks sparked the blaze. My Clallam County

- ➤ Singer-songwriter Matt Butler will perform his one-man show, Reckless Son, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Field Arts and Events Hall at 201 W. Front St. in Port Angeles. He draws on nearly a decade of performing in jails and prisons — a background that has led him to schedule additional concerts including one at Clallam Bay Corrections Center on Thursday. - ➤ State Treasurer Mike Pellicciotti visited Port Angeles on Tuesday and learned to operate a Develon DX300LL-5 log loader from log yard operator Jodie O’Neel — the port financed the $449,000 machine through the LOCAL government financing program that offers low-cost loans to municipalities. - ➤ Clallam County commissioners unanimously approved $204,014 in lodging tax grants for seven organizations including Field Arts and Events Hall, Dungeness Crab Festival, Feiro Marine Life Center, Olympic Peninsula Fungi Festival, Clallam Bay/Sekiu Visitors Center, Peninsula Trails Coalition and Clallam County Public Works. The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee reviewed 10 applications—requests for capital expenditures were ineligible and two groups received less than they asked for. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Port Angeles earned major recognition on April 29 when it received the Implementation Award from the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Planning Association of Washington.
