- ➤ On Monday, tribal members, law enforcement, and local leaders gathered to honor missing and murdered indigenous people at the Elwha Klallam Heritage Center and Gateway Transit Center Pavilion — Lt. Jimmy Thompson of the Elwha Police noted that tribal communities face few resources while family members recalled their lost loved ones. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Feiro Marine Life Center will award two scholarships to Sequim students at its Making Waves Gala and Auction Friday at Field Arts — Events Hall, 201 W. Front St. in Port Angeles; Journey Simpson, a Sequim High School senior, will receive the Feiro Family Scholarship while Kyle Brooks, a Sequim High School graduate, will receive the Robert J. - ➤ Olympic Kiwanis and Friendly Earth International Recycling are hosting an electronics recycling event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Civic Field parking lot at 307 S. Race St. where items like computers and TVs are accepted - proceeds will support Kiwanis programs for foster families, Camp Beausite NW, the Kids Fishing Derby, and teen projects. - ➤ On Monday, candidates filed for the 2025 primary election in Clallam and Jefferson Counties, with 22 filing for 48 open positions in Clallam and 20 filing for 42 open positions in Jefferson; the filings include contests for Port Angeles City Council, hospital districts and other local offices while some positions remain unfilled. The filing process sets the stage for competitive races in our region as candidates vie for various terms. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ The Hood Canal Bridge is closed to all traffic because of a mechanical issue, the state Department of Transportation said. There is no estimated reopening time as of Monday — officials are working to fix the problem. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Health leaders in Clallam and Jefferson counties warned that proposed Medicaid cuts could force local hospitals to reduce services and delay care for patients. If approved, the plan may lead to significant job losses statewide and higher costs for patients (up to 16,600 jobs lost, including 9,500 in health care) over the next 10 years. Peninsula Daily News
