- ➤ Port Angeles School District plans staff cuts to close a $1.9 million budget gap for the 2026–27 school year by eliminating one teacher, one maintenance role + seven paraeducator positions. The school board votes on the resolution tonight. My Clallam County
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue tested its new Polaris UTV on a backcountry rescue off Little River Road when a hiker with an injured ankle was taken to a waiting ambulance. (The vehicle, bought with a federal Title III grant, improved speed and safety.) My Clallam County
- ➤ The state DOT announced overnight closures on the Hood Canal bridge starting Monday through May 28 except Memorial Day. The bridge will be closed 10 p.m. + 5 a.m. weeknights so crews can replace shock absorbers for rehab, with work rescheduled if weather delays occur. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Sequim Wolves beat Bremerton 9-8 in a road game that kept their district tournament hopes alive, with a key hit by Devyn Dearinger and a crucial defensive play by Conner Oase.
