  • Olympic View Community Foundation has opened grant applications for the Peninsula Home Fund to help nonprofits in Clallam and Jefferson counties with housing, transportation, work-related expenses and urgent healthcare needs. Proposals must be submitted by midnight on May 31 (details available on the OVCF website) and awards will be announced on July 3.  Peninsula Daily News
  • Port Angeles will host a Fourth of July celebration this summer with a parade, live music at the City Pier, pickleball and cornhole tournaments, a hot dog eating contest, and US Navy tours. No fireworks are planned because new development has reduced safe open space—officials say they will work on a barge launch option for future celebrations.  My Clallam County
  • On April 19, four local residents launched the Olympic Peninsula Time Bank to let Clallam and Jefferson County neighbors exchange free hours of skilled labor for time credits; 37 members had already traded 10 hours by Thursday and the program will grow as more residents share skills—such as gardening, cooking and computer design—to help connect the community.  Peninsula Daily News

  • Authorities warned that older adults in Sequim and Port Angeles lost over $1 million in impersonation scams when a 70-year-old Sequim woman handed over $125,000 under false claims of a federal investigation, a 67-year-old Port Angeles woman lost $100,000 after scammers stole her personal details, and an 80-year-old Sequim man was persuaded to purchase $862,000 in gold bars—suspects Alla Mashkova and Pralay Kumar Kar were charged while Sheriff Brian King urged residents to verify any suspicious calls.  My Clallam County
