- ➤ Olympic View Community Foundation has opened grant applications for the Peninsula Home Fund to help nonprofits in Clallam and Jefferson counties with housing, transportation, work-related expenses and urgent healthcare needs. - ➤ Port Angeles will host a Fourth of July celebration this summer with a parade, live music at the City Pier, pickleball and cornhole tournaments, a hot dog eating contest, and US Navy tours. - ➤ Authorities warned that older adults in Sequim and Port Angeles lost over $1 million in impersonation scams when a 70-year-old Sequim woman handed over $125,000 under false claims of a federal investigation, a 67-year-old Port Angeles woman lost $100,000 after scammers stole her personal details, and an 80-year-old Sequim man was persuaded to purchase $862,000 in gold bars—suspects Alla Mashkova and Pralay Kumar Kar were charged while Sheriff Brian King urged residents to verify any suspicious calls.
