ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Port Angeles man (73) was taken to Olympic Medical Center after his Mazda Protege collided with a dump truck on Dry Creek Road near U.S. Highway 101 at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday and the truck driver (49) from Sequim was not injured.  Peninsula Daily News

  • Visit Port Angeles is accepting applications for six $2,500 tourism marketing grants — open to local tourism and hospitality businesses — that will fund branding, video production, website design and other marketing efforts to attract visitors from over 50 miles away; online applications are accepted through June 9.  Peninsula Daily News

  • Sequim’s own Pearle Peterson released her debut country single 'Another You' on May 21—she is co-writing a new album with Nashville producer Beau Fuller while continuing her music arts studies following 11 years at the local Boys and Girls Club, and the song is available for purchase on her website.  My Clallam County

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Port Angeles School District has named three new administrators for the 2025-2026 school year—Michaela Clancy as director of special services, Aaron West as director of transportation, and Shanna Coleman as principal at Jefferson Elementary School. Clancy replaces Rhonda Kromm following her promotion, West takes over after Marcia Bowden’s resignation, and Coleman succeeds interim principal Coco Carlson who will return to teaching, according to Superintendent Marty Brewer.  Peninsula Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clallam Transit commissioners unanimously approved Jason McNickle as interim general manager who will assume the role on Aug. 1 following Jim Fetzer's retirement on July 31 — McNickle has worked at the transit system for 16 years and will earn a 10 percent salary increase at $136,725. A special committee will meet in September to plan the recruitment of a permanent manager.  Peninsula Daily News
  • Clallam County and Port Angeles have reduced the design for a joint public safety facility near Fairchild International Airport to a $22 million estimate—cutting nearly $10 million from the original plan as it will house the emergency operations center and 911 dispatch. Officials will send out proposals by the end of August—select bids in October and break ground in November, with the project set to finish between December 2026 and the second quarter.  Peninsula Daily News
