Two people were rescued by bystanders from a big fire at a residence on Mount Walker near milepost 301 on U.S. Highway 101 Thursday night — they were taken to Jefferson Healthcare for evaluation while multiple fire crews worked over 90 minutes to control the blaze.

The Crescent High School Jazz Band performed Friday as the opening act at the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts at Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles, where many acts offered food, fun, and crafts over three days.
