🌲 Environment
The DNR is asking for input on conserving the Elwha River Watershed through an online survey required by a legislative directive.
Two community meetings are planned (June 18, 9:00–10:00 a.m. and Sept. 3, 6:00–7:30 p.m.) before the final report is due on Oct. 1.
🏛️ Government
Last week, Port Angeles Coast Guard crews joined Canadian and Japanese partners in a search and rescue exercise in the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Victoria.
They practiced rescue techniques (using a 45-ft Response Boat-Medium and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter) to ensure readiness for emergencies, concluding the operation Wednesday.
🏈 Sports
Port Angeles High School named Darrell Duckett as the new head football coach for the Roughriders pending school board approval.
The 2019 graduate, who played at Central Washington and coached locally last fall, aims to build a culture of discipline, accountability + teamwork in practices and classrooms.
