- ➤ Port Angeles School District sold its first bonds last week to raise funds for a new high school and Franklin Elementary School as part of a plan to build three schools by 2029. Superintendent Marty Brewer said the initial $30 million covers soft costs until December and set a 4.3% interest rate while noting that improved facilities should reverse declining enrollments—Assistant Superintendent Michelle Olsen will succeed him next year. - ➤ The Clallam County Superior Court denied environmentalists’ request to stop logging on Parched and Tree Well parcels in the Elwha Watershed and ordered the DNR to file records by June 18 — logging is not set to begin until next year.
