ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A structure fire destroyed a house and several outbuildings on the 3900 block of Eden Valley Road Tuesday as fire crews from Clallam County Fire Districts 2 and 3 and the Port Angeles Fire Department arrived around 5:50 p.m.—using water tenders to shuttle water from a hydrant 6.5 miles away while local residents helped control the blaze. - ➤ A large house fire broke out in Eden Valley on May 28 at about 5:30 p.m., and firefighters from Port Angeles and neighboring districts used 5 water tenders & a water shuttle to control the blaze, yet the home and several outbuildings were lost despite the efforts of 30 firefighters. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The city of Port Angeles will apply sealant to the road surfaces on the Eighth Street bridges next week – both bridges will be closed from 6 a.m. Monday until Friday, June 6 to allow the sealant to cure while detour routes and open sidewalks support local traffic, as part of a larger Eighth Street upgrade project. - ➤ The City of Port Angeles announced that the 8th Street Bridges will close to vehicles from June 2 at 6:00 a.m. until June 6 as crews clean and seal the decks—sidewalks remain open for pedestrians. My Clallam County
- ➤ Clallam County commissioners approved a new five-year plan to reduce homelessness but said clear benchmarks must be added by year’s end+ the plan, set to run from 2025 to 2030, aims to add shelter beds and housing units after a 25 percent rise in homeless counts while funding remains uncertain.
