  • Master Gardener Cece Fitton of Sequim watered black-eyed Susans and phacelia on Thursday at the demonstration garden at 2711 Woodcock Road near Sequim. The garden — run by Washington State University Extension office — has a classroom and outdoor pavilion for seasonal lectures and workshops and is open to the public during daylight hours.  Peninsula Daily News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Sequim man Ty Coone's body was recovered near Dungeness Spit after he went missing on May 14 when he called 911 in distress from his kayak, and his mother confirmed on social media his body was found on June 1 + the sheriff’s office is awaiting a coroner’s report.  My Clallam County

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Port Angeles School District named Jennifer Rogers as its new Career and Technical Education director after 14 years of service as a teacher, CTE coordinator & girls basketball coach; she will now oversee CTE programs at four schools while expanding career-connected learning opportunities with community partners.  My Clallam County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Port Angeles will launch an online portal on June 17 that lets businesses apply for state and city licenses at once. City officials said the new policy replaces the old process that needed 15 separate licenses (making it simpler for business owners).  My Clallam County
  • Brendan Meyer announced he will step down from the Port Angeles City Council at the end of June due to a serious health challenge and the stress of his duties. The council will soon begin the process to select a replacement who must run in the November 2026 election to serve out his term.  Peninsula Daily News
