GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Clallam Transit System will receive almost $4 million in grants over the next four years from the state Department of Transportation to support services including the Strait Shot route, paratransit, and a new rideshare contract with Olympic Community of Health for coalition programs. The board reviewed the 2025–2030 Transit Development Plan with a public hearing set for August 27 and announced that general manager Jim Fetzer will retire July 31—Jason McNickle will serve as interim general manager starting Aug 1. - ➤ Today, the Port Angeles City Council approved a sidewalk on the north side of West Lauridsen Boulevard at Lincoln Park that will run 1,100 feet (725 feet privately funded and 375 feet with a NICE grant) and be built by a licensed contractor before summer ends. The council also approved a $1.2 million stormwater retrofit on 16th Street and a sewer main rehabilitation on Francis Street (a $749,102 contract) to improve local infrastructure.
