- ➤ At the Elwha Klallam Heritage Center, 10-year-old June Ward decorated a wooden canoe paddle as her father worked on his during a craft-making session on Friday for the 2025 Tribal Canoe Journey. The journey will begin on July 31 with dozens of native canoes landing at the mouth of the Elwha River and continue with five days of celebration on the Lower Elwha reservation west of Port Angeles—up to 10,000 indigenous peoples are expected to join.
