- ➤ Clallam County led the state in fundraising during the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, a 37-mile run from Laird's Corner to 7 Cedars Resort that raised over $5,000. - ➤ Clallam County Fire District 3 chief Justin Grider said he will ask voters on Aug. 5 to raise the levy rate to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value—money needed to cover rising costs and a record 9,000 calls last year. He warned that if the levy does not pass, the district may cut non-essential services—like water and technical rescues—to save funds. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Clallam County Prosecutor Mark Nichols met with local business groups to discuss challenges in the legal system including sentencing reform, court delays, and long toxicology testing times that can take up to 11 months.
