- ➤ Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions extinguished a fire in the metal recycling area at the Port Angeles transfer station early Sunday—crews used about 60,000 gallons of water with no injuries reported and the cause under investigation. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ SEQUIM — Fire District 3 answered 65 calls over the Fourth of July weekend, including a traffic collision, eight wildland fires with six caused by fireworks and two under investigation, two structure fires, four smoke investigations and 50 emergency medical service calls; officials reported no injuries and urged residents to follow burn restrictions as summer continues. - ➤ Clallam County commissioners approved $50,000 in opioid settlement funds for the Harm Reduction Health Center—as the state stopped supplying key items—and will allocate $1,393,167 from Opportunity Funds to overhaul A Street’s wastewater infrastructure in Port Angeles, a project that will support up to 1,400 households by 2045 while a public hearing is set for 10:30 a.m. July 29.
