- ➤ Port Angeles will host a city-sponsored forum on the Rayonier Mill site cleanup next Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall—environmental experts will present details and answer questions to help build public input on the cleanup plan. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ SEQUIM officials said that Clallam Bay/Seiku is under a stage 3 drought alert and Island View is under a stage 4 alert, which restricts outdoor water use and may require a grant-funded truck to bring water by the end of this week — the truck is ready if needed. They also said low-income residents west of Lake Crescent will receive solar-powered batteries to keep medical devices running during outages. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Port Angeles-based First Fed faces a $106 million lawsuit that accuses the bank of helping in a Ponzi scheme linked to a water vending machine business, with the complaint filed on June 10 in King County Superior Court. Its CEO resigned on July 12 and a senior executive left on July 2 as revised earnings showed a $9 million loss—actions that come as the bank begins an executive search for a new permanent CEO. - ➤ Clallam County now has a special space for dangerous dogs at the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society under a new deal approved Monday—deputies will have up to 20 days to hold a seized dog, paying $4 per day on standby and $49 per day plus medical costs when a dog is placed—and the agreement runs through the end of 2026. - ➤ Clallam County put a full outdoor burning ban in place on July 14 because low humidity and extreme heat raised wildfire risks — the ban covers all county-controlled campgrounds and unincorporated areas, stopping campfires, bonfires, trash burning, and more. Propane, gas, and pellet appliances can still be used on safe surfaces if kept five feet from flammable vegetation — the rules do not affect campgrounds in Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest.
