The Clallam Conservation District will hold a public hearing Friday at 5 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel at 221 N.
Lincoln St. to discuss a $5 annual parcel fee for all county landowners with exemptions for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities — the fee will help cover rising operational costs and fund essential conservation programs.
Crews from the state Department of Transportation began demolition of the old U.S. Highway 101 bridge over the Elwha River today, placing a temporary dyke to divert the river channel to the east while removing the western spans.
Later this summer the dyke will be repositioned as crews remove the eastern spans+ drivers may see flaggers in the work zone.
Port Angeles officials approved a $330,000 purchase of a building at 313 W.
First St. to serve as office space and parking for the Marine Trade Center, and the current tenant will remain until Dec. 31.
