- ➤ The Clallam Conservation District will hold a public hearing Friday at 5 p.m. at the Red Lion Hotel at 221 N. Lincoln St. to discuss a $5 annual parcel fee for all county landowners with exemptions for low-income seniors and persons with disabilities — the fee will help cover rising operational costs and fund essential conservation programs. - ➤ Crews from the state Department of Transportation began demolition of the old U.S. Highway 101 bridge over the Elwha River today, placing a temporary dyke to divert the river channel to the east while removing the western spans. Later this summer the dyke will be repositioned as crews remove the eastern spans+ drivers may see flaggers in the work zone. Peninsula Daily News
