- ➤ The Port Angeles Police Department is hosting National Night Out on Aug. 5 at Civic Field, 307 S. - ➤ Today, visitors can join the Port Angeles Underground Heritage Tour that lasts 2½ hours and reveals hidden basements, tunnels, and a preserved brothel above what is now the Family Shoe Store. - ➤ Peninsula College is set to add a 5-foot-by-10-foot CNC machine and handheld Shaper Origin units to its Construction Technology Program using funds from the state Workforce Development Fund + the new tools will be installed by winter quarter to help students learn precise digital fabrication techniques in timber construction and cabinetry classes. - ➤ The Port Angeles School District board approved extra options for the new Stevens Middle School—using $1.2 million under budget to add a synthetic turf playfield, gym panels, and a canopy for ADA access while rejecting a $75,000 projector option. The board will soon discuss a new name for the school—while the district, commended for its music education, prepares for further projects funded by a $140 million bond measure. Peninsula Daily News
