CULTURE NEWS

  • Tribal canoes from various tribes reached the beach at Fort Worden today to keep their culture alive by following a long-standing landing protocol and receiving help from volunteers after pullers signaled to come ashore. The journey will continue to the Elwha on Thursday for several days of ceremonies, and a tribal dinner with food trucks will be held tonight at the Jamestown S’Klallam pavilion (1272 Jamestown Road).  Peninsula Daily News

  • A tsunami advisory was issued for the outer Washington coast, including Port Angeles, after an undersea quake near Russia—officials warn of strong currents and small waves. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City planning supervisor Ben Braudrick said Port Angeles is updating its comprehensive plan to address growing housing and infrastructure needs as the population increased from 19,960 in 2020 to 20,440 today, with plans for 1,970 new housing units by 2045—public feedback is now invited on the draft plan after an open house received 1,400 survey responses.  Peninsula Daily News
