- ➤ Voters in Clallam and Jefferson counties approved a tax change for Clallam County Fire District 3 that will restore the levy from $1.11 to $1.50 per $1,000 of assessed value — a move that will cost a homeowner of a $470,000 house about $15 more a month and start collection in 2026 — with the measure passing by 64 percent to 36 percent. - ➤ Clallam County commissioners voted to put a proposal on the Nov. 4 ballot that would raise the property tax rate from 76 cents to up to 95 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. - ➤ The Olympic Medical Center board held virtual interviews for an interim CEO to replace Darryl Wolfe who resigned on July 31 and will interview Chief Physician Officer Dr. Allen Chen at 12:30 p.m. today at Linkletter Hall, 939 Caroline St in Port Angeles—adding that the board also plans to send a non-binding letter of intent to UW Medicine to discuss a potential affiliation aimed at stabilizing the hospital’s finances.
