- ➤ Firefighters from Clallam County Fire District 3 extinguished two brush fires at Diamond Point Airport on Monday after a community work party using propane torches sparked the blazes along the runway—one fire covered 2 acres and the other 0.2 acres as crews set up a wet line when winds reached 11 mph. - ➤ The Peninsula Daily News is moving this weekend—after selling its 9,530-square-foot office and 4,330-square-foot warehouse to Madrona Children’s Academy, which will convert the space into an early learning center for children. - ➤ The Crescent School Board will meet today at 7:15 p.m. in the Crescent School library at 50350 state Highway 112 in Joyce to choose an interim superintendent—filling in for David Bingham who is on medical leave until November. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Officials from the Washington State Department of Ecology announced that emergency response operations for the fuel spill at Indian Creek west of Port Angeles ended on August 12 and that long-term environmental monitoring — including a Natural Resource Damage Assessment and steps under the Toxics Cleanup Program — will soon begin while local partners keep the nearby estuary open for fish passage despite the loss of over 2,100 fish and 538 invertebrates.
