- ➤ Jessica Adams of the Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department scraped off flaking paint from a bollard at Haynes Viewpoint on Thursday — the department said the bollard and adjacent guard chains will be repainted soon. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ On August 21st, Clallam County, Sequim police, and a state trooper responded when two Carlsborg gas station employees, following a scammer’s instructions claiming to be their boss, attempted to break open an ATM—no money was taken and damage was limited to the machine. My Clallam County
- ➤ 59-year-old Burton ‘Bill’ Brown was arrested on August 19 north of Centralia on a warrant tied to the December 5 Frugals robbery—when two men robbed the restaurant at gunpoint and stole a vehicle—and he was held on charges for having a gun and suspected meth while 36-year-old Anthony Lewis Reynolds was arrested on June 21. - ➤ North Olympic Library System is asking Clallam County residents to share ideas for its five-year strategic plan by completing a survey—available online, in Spanish, at branch libraries, and via the bookmobile—by Aug. 30. Staff workshop feedback will be combined with public input and presented to the Board of Trustees this fall. Peninsula Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Work crews completed emergency repairs on U.S. Highway 101 near Kalaloch Campground and reopened both lanes. The repairs follow a March closure of the southbound lane from a failed culvert and erosion—crews will return for permanent striping once the new pavement cures. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ The Port Angeles City Council narrowed the field for the vacant seat to three candidates after Councilmember Meyer resigned on June 30—Jon Hamilton received five votes, Christy Holy four, and Laurel Cripe three. The council will interview the candidates on September 2 and must finalize the appointment by September 28, with the appointee serving until the November general election results are certified. - ➤ Olympic Medical Center received a 5-week extension to fix issues in patient rights and nursing services after a state survey showed noncompliance.
