🏘️ Community
Trooper Mark Hodgson rescued an injured kitten near Hood Canal Bridge & brought her to Greywolf Veterinary Hospital in Sequim.
Treated for a fractured leg, the kitten is now named Bridget and welcomed as the clinic's new team member.
Earlier this month, Sequim Prairie Nights hosted the debut of the Sequim Little Car Swap, a tribute to late Ed Prescott’s vision of sharing Hot Wheels with local children.
Organizers plan to expand the swap at future events + ensure every child has a chance to play.
🌲 Environment
Firefighters doused two small lightning fires near Maiden Peak and Deer Park Campground on Tuesday in Olympic National Park, while the Mount Tom Creek fire burns on a remote slope.
Stage 2 restrictions ban campfires and require stoves be set three feet away from vegetation — no closures or evacuations.
🏛️ Government
Port Angeles officials considered stronger protections for groundwater during Tuesday's City Council work session on the updated Critical Areas Ordinance.
They may use aquifer recharge areas as a backup source for water & adopt measures to address challenges with unauthorized camping.
