- ➤ Port Angeles residents can enjoy two free family events today with Jammin’ in the Park at Pebble Beach featuring live music and food from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The John Burkheimer Memorial Car Show & Chili Cook-Off at the Clallam County Fairgrounds starts at 9:30 a.m.—admission is $3 per person or $10 per family with proceeds supporting local youth programs. - ➤ Kate Orzikh opened Sunflower Tastes at The Wharf to serve Eastern European deli and bakery food and to donate proceeds from Ukrainian rye sales to support a Ukrainian reconnaissance group—helping those fighting in Ukraine. The new shop offers outdoor seating with recipes like apple babka, kvass, and borscht and will add traditional Jewish foods for the High Holy Days. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Stephen Massey, a 61-year-old Sequim man wanted for robbery and burglary, surrendered without incident Friday morning when officers in a multi-agency operation that began on July 23 at a Chevron station in Carlsborg executed a search warrant at his Diamond Point home—using two armored vehicles. - ➤ Washington Attorney General Nick Brown announced on Tuesday that state attorneys general reached an agreement to restore $137M for K–12 education – the deal also restores $13M for adult education and workforce development with funds to be released by October 3. My Clallam County

- ➤ The Port Angeles City Council will interview three finalists—Jon Hamilton, Christy Holy, and Laurel Cripe—on Tuesday, September 2 to fill a vacancy created by Brendan Meyer's June 30 resignation. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Port Ludlow and Mats Mats Bay beaches have been closed for recreational shellfish harvesting after tests showed high levels of paralytic shellfish poison — a toxin from marine plankton Alexandrium. Other Clallam County beaches from Cape Flattery to the Jefferson County line remain closed for all shellfish to protect public health. Peninsula Daily News
