- ➤ Roosevelt Elementary will host a new afterschool program run by the Boys and Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula starting with the new school year so that students can stay in class longer before joining their care program. The program will offer meals, playground, gym time and sessions in STEM, art and leadership while also giving access to additional clubhouses during school breaks. My Clallam County

- ➤ Dr. Allison Berry said COVID-19 cases on the Peninsula rose over the summer as emergency visits and hospitalizations increased, including one child in Jefferson County. - ➤ Irish open-water swimmer John Charles Curley launched his 18-mile crossing of the Strait of Juan de Fuca from west of Port Angeles to Victoria yesterday, supported by a pilot boat and crew.
