- ➤ Port Angeles’ 9/11 Remembrance ceremony will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the 9/11 Memorial Waterfront Park — 317 N. Francis St. — where officials including Chaplain David Byer, Police Chief Brian Smith, Fire Chief Tyler Gage and Sheriff Brian King will honor Sept. 11, 2001 victims and first responders. The ceremony will feature a flag presentation, an invocation, patriotic songs, a moment of silence, flag lowering and a bagpipe tribute by Rick McKensie, with additional piping at the Fire Department following the event. - ➤ Today, Geo Stabilization crews begin riverbank stabilization on the north bank of the Quillayute River after several years of erosion toward Mora Road have raised concerns for Rialto Beach access — drivers must expect alternating single-lane traffic with delays up to 20 minutes and reduced trailer parking at Dickey River Boat Launch until the work finishes by Nov. 1st. - ➤ Sequim will connect Flaura’s Acres to its sewer and water systems under an interlocal agreement with Clallam County and state agencies. The project, included in Sequim’s 2026 budget, will use a forgivable $2 million loan and a 20-year low-interest loan to fix the undrinkable well water — ensuring the 54 homes get safe water. - ➤ Clallam County Chief Criminal Deputy Amy Bundy finished a 10-week FBI National Academy training program in Quantico on September 8th—she graduated with 252 law enforcement officers from 49 states, the District of Columbia, 20 countries, six military organizations and four federal agencies. She now joins a group of National Academy alumni serving on the North Olympic Peninsula to strengthen public safety leadership. My Clallam County
- ➤ Port Angeles will host a hybrid workshop on the lodging tax funding application and award process at 2 p.m. Sept. 19 in council chambers at City Hall—321 E. Fifth St.—to explain new guidelines and answer questions for potential grant applicants. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Today, the Clallam County Board of Commissioners will sign a letter backing resumed timber sales — which are set to provide nearly $3 million for health, fire, library, road and general funds and meet state guidelines. The board also reviewed a $39,000 grant for courthouse security and renewed contracts for knotweed removal and for maintaining the county’s ballot sorting machine. Peninsula Daily News
