CULTURE NEWS

  • Actor Kellan Lutz hugged a fan during the meet the actors photo session at the Forever Twilight Forks event on Friday, held at the Kitla Center. Around 1,000 people attended the Q&A and movie screening (Stephenie Meyer, Peter Facinelli and Erik Odom were also present).  Peninsula Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Travelers on state Highway 112 between Neah Bay and Sekiu must allow extra travel time starting today due to alternating one-way traffic near the Hoko River—drivers during daytime hours will face occasional 30-minute stops for trucks at work zones while repairs from milepost 2 to milepost 5.6 continue for about five weeks.  Peninsula Daily News
  • The Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department will begin removing the floating docks from the City Pier on Sept. 19—this work prevents storm damage and stores the docks for reinstallation on Memorial Day Weekend in 2026. The department will also remove the floating docks at Ediz Hook Boat Launch after the Oct. 15 fishing season to protect city infrastructure.  Peninsula Daily News
  • Clallam PUD declared a Stage 3 water alert for the Gales Addition, Mt. Angeles and Monroe systems, which means residents must stop outdoor water uses like washing sidewalks, vehicles and sprinkling lawns. The alert follows the city's Stage 3 water shortage as the Elwha River flows have stayed very low for the past five days.  Peninsula Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic reported a 47.5% increase in field encounters during 2024 with nearly 14,000 visits, and expanded its services by opening an office in Forks and reopening its dental clinic—updates were shared with the Clallam County Board of Commissioners on Monday. The clinic also partnered with local agencies and Jamestown Healing Clinic to provide patient transportation.  Peninsula Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • In sports today, the Peninsula Pirate men defeated Edmonds 12-0 as Austin Collins scored four goals and Jeremy Obah netted two while the Pirate women shut out Edmonds 5-0 with both teams set to travel to Everett on Wednesday — the Port Angeles Roughriders snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 26-7 win over Forks and Sequim beat 4A Mariner 17-6.  My Clallam County
