- ➤ Retired plumber John Gilbertson cut a soil pipe when he removed one of two toilets at the Lincoln Park public restroom. North Olympic Baseball and Softball is upgrading the facility for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance by adding handrails and wider doors to serve the nearby athletic fields. - ➤ The Olympic Peninsula Fungi Festival returns for its fourth year with events starting on October 2 at 6:00 p.m. in Sequim, a keynote dinner on October 17 and weekend celebrations on October 18 and 19 at the Clallam County Fairgrounds. Founded by David and Shana Rogers—who grew the event from 250 to thousands—increased mushroom talks, art vendors, and food offerings are planned for this expanded festival. My Clallam County
- ➤ A totem pole completed a 1,700-mile journey and arrived at the Elwha Tribal Center in Port Angeles on Saturday—its arrival marks a conservation effort to raise awareness about plans to repeal the Roadless Rule. - ➤ The Port Angeles School Board will vote today at 5:00 p.m. at Lincoln Center on West 9th Street on whether to rename Stevens Middle School as the district prepares a new campus for grades 6-8. The board narrowed the options to Hurricane Ridge, Riverstone, Elwha River, or Port Angeles Middle School — a shortlist formed after months of public input from students, staff, community members and representatives from the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. - ➤ On September 24th, the Sequim Wolves beat Olympic 6—1 in a high school soccer game as Sasha Yada and her teammates scored key goals. The team improved its league record to 2—2 and will travel to Port Angeles tonight for their next match. My Clallam County
