- ➤ Clallam County Fire Marshal George Bailey lifted the burn ban today as fall rains returned; recreational fires, residential burns, and permitted debris burns will be allowed—urban growth areas remain restricted from outdoor debris burning by state law. My Clallam County
- ➤ Government officials in Port Angeles plan major transportation improvements as they design roundabouts on Highway 101 at Mill Road and Taylor Cutoff with bids advertised in January 2027 and work starting that summer. They also plan fish barrier fixes at Peabody and White Creeks with construction expected by 2029—an added federal grant will help fix the Hood Canal Bridge. My Clallam County
- ➤ Today, Clallam County lifted its burn ban and now permits recreational, residential, and debris burns outdoors if burning piles do not exceed 10 feet in diameter—excluding urban growth areas like Port Angeles that must follow state law. Jefferson County fire marshals reported that recreational fires such as campfires are allowed at moderate risk today while yard debris burns remain prohibited and the risk will drop to low on Oct. 15. - ➤ Candidates Ann Henninger and Gerald Stephanz debated Tuesday at a Port Angeles Business Association meeting on how to guide Olympic Medical Center through tough financial times. Henninger said recent cost-saving measures helped narrow the revenue gap while Stephanz warned that future service cuts may be needed to keep the hospital operating—both urging more transparency.
