- ➤ Seven-year-old Hadley Harp, her 3-year-old brother Van, and their mother Ashton from Port Angeles walked through a room full of evil clowns at a haunted house set up by the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society at the Kitty City animal shelter west of Sequim—part of the Howl-O-'Ween fundraiser that also held a food drive for the Sequim Food Bank. - ➤ Clallam County commissioners were asked to consider the 46.4-acre Doc Holliday parcel for a replacement timber sale during Monday’s work session—Center for Responsible Forestry explained that if the land is appraised at $25,000 per acre, the county could receive over $600,000 upfront before DNR purchases replacement land. The commissioners did not act and said they need more input from DNR, the logging industry and the county’s revenue advisory committee before making a decision. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Interim CEO Mark Gregson of Olympic Medical Center took swift action on August 18 to address a federal compliance crisis that threatened Medicare funding and signed a contract with health care advisors to secure an extension until October 10—he also froze capital spending and adjusted staffing to stabilize finances and improve emergency care.
