  • Sequim Domino’s is teaming up with Clallam County Fire District 3 and the National Fire Protection Association to promote Fire Prevention Week; today from 5 to 7 p.m.—customers with working smoke alarms get a free pizza while others have their alarms serviced.  My Clallam County
  • Rainshadow Cafe hosted a fundraiser last month for the family of former employee Jennifer Hanshaw in Sequim—supporting her sixth-grade daughter Ember who was diagnosed last spring with a rare, life-threatening condition. The GoFundMe raised $14,447 of a $25,000 goal to help cover medical costs.  Peninsula Daily News
  • At the 18th Evergreen Country Estate pumpkin contest on Goss Road south of Port Angeles, residents Sabrina Mudd and Michele Stafford pushed the four large pumpkins weighing 151, 166, 84 and 115 pounds—champion Dawna Krause, who grew the 166-pound pumpkin, won a prize of coho salmon or two Dungeness crabs.  Peninsula Daily News
  • The 9th Olympic Peninsula Apple and Cider Festival will run from Friday to Sunday with events at Port Townsend, Port Ludlow, Port Angeles, and Chimacum—offering apple cooking classes, cider tastings, live music, and family activities to celebrate local food growers and fall harvest traditions.   • Clallam County is working on its 2026 budget after cutting a $3.258 million shortfall to $1.931 million with one-time revenue gains and spending cuts—County Administrator Todd Mielke said commissioners asked for a week to consider options that may avoid layoffs but could lead to job reductions later.  Peninsula Daily News
  • Clallam County Commissioners heard a presentation on Monday about a plan to conserve the Doc Holliday timberland near Joyce — the proposal offers up to $556,000 for new timberland purchases and up to $603,000 in county funding and has been sent to the Revenue Advisory Committee for further review.  My Clallam County

  • Former Port Angeles Roughrider Jack Gladfelter of Corban College was named National NAIA Runner of the Week after finishing 6th in the Charles Bowles Invitational 8K and setting a school record at 23:52.7.
