- ➤ On Wednesday evening, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake shook deep beneath the Olympic Peninsula just before 6 p.m. about 38 miles south of Port Angeles and 28 miles underground — seismologists said there were no reports of damage or injuries and that such quakes are common. My Clallam County
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Washington’s minimum wage will increase to $17.13 per hour on January 1 as announced by the Department of Labor and Industries—this inflation adjustment keeps the state’s rate the highest in the nation while raising overtime thresholds and teen pay rates. My Clallam County
- ➤ The City of Port Angeles is asking for public input on a $1.96 million Bike Boulevard Project on its west side that will link bike routes from 10th Street to the 8th Street Bridges - an online survey is open through October 15 to help guide the project design. My Clallam County
- ➤ State Rep. Adam Bernbaum said the Legislature will focus on backfilling Medicaid cuts due to federal changes — which could lower enrollment by up to 50 percent and raise premiums by up to 15 percent. He noted that lawmakers will also debate issues on AI regulation, family separation, and local revenue support with a budget response expected by March. Peninsula Daily News
