ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire destroyed multiple barns on Mount Pleasant Road on Friday as firefighters from six agencies were dispatched at 11:08 p.m.—a limited water supply led crews to use tenders to shuttle water from the nearest hydrant—and about 20,000 gallons of water were used to extinguish the blaze, with no injuries reported. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The county Health and Human Services department picked five proposals to fund new programs for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and will ask board members to approve the funding on Oct 28 — the proposals include ways to make fairs more accessible, provide early help for young children, support parents, improve staff training with client stories, and teach emergency preparedness. - ➤ Port Angeles Roughriders boys tennis swept all seven matches against North Mason and will host Bainbridge today at 3:30. In football, the Roughriders lost 49 to 28 at Squalicum while Sequim fell 59 to 14 to Olympic, Peninsula Pirate soccer teams posted a 1 to 1 tie for the men and a 2 to 0 win for the women, fast-pitch softball standout Lynzee Reid signed with Lower Columbia College, and KONP Newsradio will broadcast its first girls soccer match from Sequim tomorrow night.
