  • Sam Grello, executive director of the Port Angeles Waterfront District, strung holiday lights on a tree in the 100 block of West First Street on Thursday. He said 49 downtown trees were lit to bring a festive look for the holiday season — the project is sponsored by the Port of Port Angeles.  Peninsula Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Morgan Bartholick-LeMaire was hired as Port Angeles Symphony’s first operations & development manager. He will lead music education programs, grant writing, fundraising and manage the music library to help expand the symphony’s reach.  Peninsula Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Michael Glore was hired as the executive director of the Dungeness River Nature Center—he brings 20 years of national parks experience and will use his skills to expand educational programs and guide the center’s Strategic Plan 2030. He said his work with local partners and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe inspires him to lead growth and sustainability at the center.  Peninsula Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Port Angeles' Dungeness Line will begin new operations under owner MTRWESTERN starting November 1 — the company is set to introduce new vehicles, bike racks, 24-hour support and an app for real-time tracking in January. The bus service will also continue interline bookings with Greyhound, Amtrak and Flixbus for travel between Port Angeles and SeaTac.  My Clallam County

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nearly 70 clinicians at Olympic Medical Center endorsed three board candidates—Dr. Carleen Bensen, Laurie Force, and Dr. Gerald Stephanz—in response to a state survey and ongoing concerns about patient safety and quality of care. They will host a candidate forum today from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Main Library to discuss plans for greater clinician involvement in hospital decisions.  Peninsula Daily News
