- ➤ City officials Cory Delikat, Scott Golding, Judith Reandeau Stipe and Steve Zenovic held ceremonial shovels at Chase Street and Lauridsen Boulevard to start the project to restore the 1924 Rayonier #4 locomotive. The project will repair and repaint the engine — add a protective cover, a log car and a public park using funds raised for the effort. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Registration is now open for the annual Port Angeles Turkey Trot scheduled for Thanksgiving Day. The event, organized by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, will start at 9:00 a.m. at Hollywood Beach along the Olympic Discovery Trail and will benefit the Port Angeles Food Bank with donation discounts offering $10 off for a $50 donation, $20 off for a $100 donation, and a free entry for a $200 donation. - ➤ The federal shutdown is putting Clallam County’s Recompete program at risk since the U.S. Economic Development Administration remains closed—County analyst Angi Klahn said the funding freeze has halted reimbursements and pay for two staff. The county will pause the program on November 30 if the shutdown continues, with formal notices issued by mid-November. My Clallam County
- ➤ Clallam County commissioners backed a $5 million grant application by the Composite Recycling Technology Center to build two model structures—one net-zero demonstration home and one emergency shelter using military barracks technology with Makah Tribe Western hemlock.
