- ➤ Four First Fed employees from the Sixth Street branch and about 14 bankers from two branches will volunteer on Wednesday at the Habitat for Humanity project on West Hazel Street and South Fairmount Avenue to paint the future home for the Ketchum Veteran Cottages—part of the bank’s Community Spirit Month. - ➤ Honda Aircraft Company acquired Angeles Composite Technologies, Inc. and will integrate it into its new subsidiary Port Angeles Composite LLC on Port property after commissioners approved transferring two leases that run through 2030 — the leases cost $29,931.11 and $12,499.75 per month. - ➤ At Port Angeles High School, nine seniors were recognized at an award luncheon by the Port Angeles Education Foundation for earning a 3.5 GPA each semester in grades 9 to 11 while taking at least nine full-year honors or advanced placement courses. The recognized students include Grant Butterworth, Andre Campbell, Julianna Getzin, Phillip Grubbs, Becca Manson, Elizabeth Shaw, Ian Smithson, Killian Waknitz and Jensen Wolfe. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ The Port Angeles Waterfront District hired the Washington Conservation Corps to rappel down the steep Front Street hill and remove invasive vines as part of a ten-year plan to improve the harbor view—this work will allow for further tasks like tree de-limbing next year. Volunteers will join a work day on November 15 from 9 a.m. to plant dogwoods at the Red Lion parking lot after the WCC completes its phase. My Clallam County

- ➤ Drivers in Port Angeles will see changes today as crews begin upgrading the stormwater filtration systems at the intersection of 16th and C Streets to clean runoff before it reaches Tumwater Creek and Port Angeles Harbor—traffic and the sidewalk will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays while detours guide vehicles and pedestrians. - ➤ The North Olympic History Center is selling the 1-acre lawn in front of Lincoln School on 8th Street for $600,000 to help pay for demolishing the 110-year-old building while keeping its adjacent property (the center hopes to find a developer for mixed-use plans and will list the lawn by the end of the year). - ➤ Port Angeles Roughriders sent six runners to the State Cross Country Meet with Leia Larson finishing sixth at 21:28.0 and Sequim athletes also qualifying. The girls soccer team, led by sophomore Lilly Anne Lancaster who scored a hat trick in a 9 to 0 win, will play in the district quarterfinal today at 6:00 p.m. in Poulsbo—each team aiming for a strong finish.
