- ➤ An online fund was set up for Daylee Akers and her son Aiden after a boating accident on the Bogachiel River last week killed Christian Akers, 35, and his 7-year-old son Wyatt + donations pushed the initial goal from $26,000 to a target of $45,000 as contributions reached $30,349. - ➤ Peninsula College professor Kate Reavey has been named one of 50 recipients of the Humanities Washington Award in celebration of the organization’s 50th anniversary. The online celebration will be held on Dec. 10 — each honoree will receive a $1,000 award. Peninsula Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Clallam County commissioners approved a $260,000 loan and a $675,000 Opportunity Fund grant to upgrade Forks Industrial Park and its electrical systems—funds that depend on a lease with Riverside Forest Products USA, which may create up to 65 jobs and bring an investment between $12 million and $13 million. Commissioners also amended a FEMA grant for expense reimbursement and approved a six-year Transportation Improvement Program for roads, bridges and trails. Peninsula Daily News
