CULTURE NEWS

  • Ron Allen, Chairman and CEO of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, was inducted into the National Native American Hall of Fame over the weekend in Oklahoma City along with five other leaders including Deb Haaland — he received the honor for growing the Tribe from a zero-resource base to an operation with a $100 million annual budget and over 1,800 acres. In his acceptance speech, Allen said the honor reflected the spirit driving efforts to improve the lives of American Indian and Alaska Native peoples.  My Clallam County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Port Angeles and Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 lifted water restrictions after water flows increased, with a record flow of 9,630 cubic feet per second on Saturday and more rain expected. The city ended its drought measures for systems it supplies & the PUD stopped drought responses for systems that rely on city-purchased water.  Peninsula Daily News

  • Port Angeles Roughriders beat North Kitsap 1 to 0 in the District 3 quarterfinals last night — advancing them to the semifinals. Freshman Emma Desjardins scored her 20th goal on a penalty kick three and a half minutes into the second half and the team will face top seeded Bainbridge on Thursday night at 6:00.  My Clallam County
