  • First Fed’s new president and CEO, Curt Queyrouze, said he will focus on local banking and tech to help customers on the North Olympic Peninsula. He plans to keep deposits in the area and restore trust—he will use a new data platform and careful cost cuts.  Peninsula Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Two events from the North Olympic Peninsula earned top awards at the Washington Festival and Events Association's 2025 conference—Lower Elwha Tribe's Paddle Journey brought 40,000 people and 109 canoes to a five-day potlatch along the Elwha River west of Port Angeles. Lissy Andros from the Forever Twilight in Forks Festival was named Event Organizer of the Year in small markets, a win that shows the region's rich cultural traditions.  Peninsula Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clallam County’s Revenue Advisory Committee recommended that county commissioners support the Doc Holliday timber sale contract—favoring immediate revenue over a proposal from environmental groups to move unlogged acres into conservation. The panel noted that the sale meets strict state regulations and commissioners will decide before its October 31, 2026 expiration.  Peninsula Daily News
