- ➤ The Port Angeles Corps of the Salvation Army will serve a free Thanksgiving meal from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at its Food Pantry at 123 S. Peabody St.—while Queen of Angels Catholic Church hosts a community dinner from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday. In Sequim, Sun Taxi will offer a free Thanksgiving meal from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Boys & Girls Club located at 400 W. Fir St. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Camp Beausite Northwest has been honored with the Maple Award for inclusive camp programming and Raina Baker received the Spruce Award for her dedicated service—accrediting the camp after it met over 200 health, safety, program and operational standards for people with disabilities. - ➤ Tickets are on sale for United Way of Clallam County’s Galentine’s Day Posh Pajama Party scheduled for Feb. 7 at Vern Burton Community Center — the event will include a catered dinner, cash bar, DJ dancing, silent auction and speeches from local women. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Sherilyn Seyler lit her tree on Monday at the Festival of Trees and named it —Christmas at the Hucklebeary Ranch—. The event will feature 45 trees and wreaths made by top Peninsula designers, and opening ceremonies begin today at 5 p.m. at the Vern Burton Community Center on Fourth Street in Port Angeles. - ➤ A dozen Clallam County youth finished a six-week veterinary science course at Dry Creek Grange that ended Saturday with a roundtable featuring four animal care experts. The program, funded with a $5,000 National Grange Rural Life Initiative grant+organized with Washington State University’s Clallam County Extension, offered hands-on lessons in animal care and career exploration. - ➤ Yesterday, the Peninsula Housing Authority began accepting applications for its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program until Dec. 5 — applications must be submitted electronically through the Rent Café portal. Applicants may pre-register to secure one of the 250 waiting list spots selected by a random lottery and subject to income limits. Peninsula Daily News
- ➤ Clallam County’s Behavioral Health Advisory Board recommended funding for 12 programs totaling $1.8 million from 14 proposals to boost unfunded or underfunded services. County commissioners will vote on these awards at a meeting on Dec. 2—this support covers outreach and treatment initiatives. Peninsula Daily News

- ➤ Local sports saw progress as the Peninsula Pirates men’s basketball team lost three games at the Swamp Classic but stayed competitive—former Roughrider Gus Halberg led in effort.
